Don currently heads up RKO’s nonprofit department. He started his public accounting career at a Big Four firm where he spent five years working with private and public colleges, as well as retail, construction and insurance companies. In 1999, Don made the move to the private sector, where he spent time as Controller for a private college in southern Maine. Don re-entered public accounting when he joined RKO in February, 2000. Since joining the Firm, Don has specialized in the non-profit sector of our practice and provided services to numerous clients ranging from private schools to community action agencies, to employee benefit plans.
Don’s experience in the non-profit industry includes financial statement audits, reviews and compilations, and compliance audits in accordance the Uniform Guidance. Additionally, Don’s experience includes MAAP audits and audits of employee benefit plans in accordance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA).
Don is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Maine Society of Certified Public Accountants.
When not at RKO, Don enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters as well as activities such as biking, cooking and skiing.
